I'm back!
by lustandthrill on 19 Jun 2010 01:44 AM

After a year of absence from modly duties, I am back for the summer. And there is currently 177 submissions in the queue.

I missed this site and the old members that are still around, and hello to the newbs! I'm Gabby, one of the mods of this wonderful site.

So, like Jenn said in the latest news article, be patient, follow the guidelines, and everything will be smooth sailing.

submissions
by j3nn on 17 May 2010 09:31 AM

I've been very busy, but I've been chipping away slowly at the submissions queue during the time when I'm supposed to be working on a Literary Analysis essay. I would be able to get through the queue much quicker if everyone just remembered (please!) that you should only put your story in one category, and that you should only be submitting one chapter at a time. Also, with artwork, check to see if the photo is showing up before you submit it. It's impossible for me to validate a submission when the actual submission isn't shown...

Thanks for all the great work, everyone! I love reading through the submissions, and I'm sure so do all the other mods....

I'M NOT DEAD YET.
by Iris Messenger on 14 Mar 2010 06:16 PM

There were over 200 submissions in the queue on Friday.

OVER 200.

You guys are ridiculously productive, I'm serious.

That's not the point, though. The point is that I worked through them all, and noticed two things that I had two rules that were repeatedly ignored.

1. Stories must be categorized appropriately. Only put your story in one category.

2. Only submit one chapter at a time. More than one story is fine, but only single chapters may be submitted at a time.

You need to wait until you have received a confirmation email saying that your submission has been accepted or rejected respectively, before waiting 24 hours and submitting again.
Thank you to everyone who did follow our submission rules, because other than those two problems, everything was relatively easy to validate quickly.
Not knowing the submission rules makes it harder for everyone. You don't get your chapter validated, everyone who DID follow the rules is in line behind you to get validated, and it creates a lot more work for the person validating. It really is easier to click validate than to send the email saying what was wrong and click reject.

Thank you -

Iris

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
by Iris Messenger on 23 Jan 2010 11:07 PM

I'd like to wish a happy birthday to the marvelous Jenn, who you guys all know as j3nn, the amazing amazing mod that does awesome stuff for you.

Yup!

That is all.

The Doldrums
by Iris Messenger on 21 Nov 2009 12:52 PM

Salutations my Patient Archive Members!

Sorry for the slowness in validation -- I'm a bit M.I.A these days because of the end of semester coursework. I've got a crunch of projects due right now, and then finals start the 1st of December for me.

So just a heads up, if things take a while to go through the pipes, I'm a little out of action, and I'm sure the rest of my fellow mods are quite busy as well.

EDIT;;

Okay, guys. I understand it's taking awhile (like Iris said) to validate. I apologize sincerely and know how hard it is to just wait it out sometimes. But just because it is taking a little longer than usual to get some stories through the queue, doesn't mean you can just break the rules. Please, people, for my sake and yours -- ONLY SUBMIT ONE CHAPTER OF A STORY AT A TIME. Then, wait for that to be validated before submitting the next one. Also, categorize them appropriately into ONLY ONE CATEGORY. Thanks a bunch, and sorry again for the delays...

AND NUMBER 2:
If your story is not in ONE category, even if you're already on something like chapter 8 and it hasn't been caught until now, the new chapters you are trying to get validated will NOT be accepted until it is changed into ONE category. This is easy to fix, just edit the story and pick the category that is most appropriate.

J3nn

Contest Update Among Other Things
by lustandthrill on 31 Aug 2009 02:55 PM

- First off, I know everyone is anticipating the contest results. Jenn and I have already sent in our opinions and we still need to wait for the other mods as far as I'm concerned. Just remain chill and eventually the results will be posted though I cannot say when.

- Also, many of you guys have expressed concern about the validation queue. They will be submitted/rejected in due time. It's time for school for all of us and time is limited and school/real life will often overshadow online duties.

- Which brings me to my final point, I (lustandthrill) am taking a momentary leave from modly duties here at Twilight Archives. Some may know that I'm a college sophomore at a very fast-paced liberal arts school and I need to focus all my attention on my schooling right now. No, we are not looking for mods as a replacement so don't hassle Kaiwynn about that either. I very much will miss this site.

To end this, I wish those who submitted for the contest the best of luck and for the rest, a happy new school year.

-Gabby

New forum
by kaiwynn on 11 Aug 2009 09:32 PM

When you go to the forum, you might notice that it looks a little different. That's because it's completely different. I've installed something new (mybb instead of phpbb) so that we could possibly control all the spambot accounts being made.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to make new accounts, and all the old posts have been lost. BUT on the plus side: no more horrendous spam.

The old board has been moved here. You can still see all the posts, but it's read-only, so no more replying or making new topics.

Keep voting for the challenge banners though, here.

Happy posting, everyone!

Contest!
by on 22 Jun 2009 10:45 AM

Heyloo twilighters! It's time to shake things up a bit on Twilight Archives with... (you guessed it) a contest!

Theme

"It was a dark and stormy night..."

This quote was penned by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, a Victorian novelist with a certain attention to dramatic flair. You must include this quote somewhere in your fanfic. The contest is not limited to any charater or time frame, just keep in mind that it must be Twilight-related. If you plan on entering a piece of art, you must explain how the quote is incorporated into it... So get creative with this, guys =) Was it dark and stormy when Alice was changed? Did Esme make that fatal jump over the edge during a storm? Is Aro planning to unleash world chaos under the cover of dark storm clouds?

Can you capture Bella as she is about to jump over the edge of the LaPush cliff in a painting? Are you going to explore the chambers of the Volturi Castle through a drawing? What about those comic strips?

Deadline

ALL entries must be submitted by Saturday, August 1! Please make sure you send an email to all of the mods containing the link to your submission only after they've been validated. Include your pen name in your email! We'd love to give credit to you wonderful authors and artists, but can only do so if we have a name :)

Email Addresses: dragontodragons@yahoo.com, the.iris.messenger@gmail.com, gabriellanoelle@gmail.com, bubble_069321@yahoo.com, j3nny_b4by@yahoo.com, and kaiwynn@gmail.com

Winners

There will be first, second, and third places (as well as two honorable mentions) given out for the writing category and the art category. Banner makers are welcomed here, as the winners will need banners for their entries! More below.

 More on Banners

Heyloo y'all, Iris here!

So the winners of this challenge will need a banner to put in their summary saying they won, right? So we're calling YOU to submit a banner!

Size: 350 x 100 pixels; about this big. Your banner should be able to fit inside that rectangle I linked to. E-mail if you need any more clarification about the size. (the.iris.messenger@gmail.com). Don't be shy!

Text: It Was a Dark and Stormy Night. TA Challenge Winner.

Anything larger than 350 x 100 pixels will be disqualified. The deadline for all banner entries is Saturday, August 1. Please e-mail the banners to me (the.iris.messenger@gmail.com) with the banner attached in .jpg or .png format and your penname on the archives.

The winners will be chosen by a vote! I'll start a forum topic in the poll section and link to it from here, and you all will vote on which banner YOU think should be given to all the winners!

Have fun!

~ Iris Messenger

by Savannah_Cullen on 01 Jun 2009 11:39 PM

I just wanted to let you guys know that you have been doing really well with your submissions lately! The majority of the chapters have great grammar, spelling, and all that jazz. You have been paying super attention to the submission rules and it is making it much, much easier on the mods!

Just remember that you can only submit one chapter at a time. It is happening a lot less than it used to, but it's still a minor problem.

Overall, though, you guys are doing great!

Keep up the good work!

banners in summaries
by Iris Messenger on 22 Apr 2009 10:04 AM

At this point, I'm not even dropping reviews when i remove banners, because this announcement has been here over two weeks, and if you have a story with an oversize banner and the banner gets removed, then tough beans. You have had your warning, and if you honestly missed the front page bolded BANNERS IN SUMMARIES news post, then I have little sympathy. This may sound harsh, but I really just don't have the time.

please address any questions regarding banners and banner size in this comment thread. i honestly can't go through all of your reviews seeing if you dropped me a question in the answer to my notification of your banner removal. Thanks =]

I just thought I'd bring your attention to this rule regarding banners in your summaries.

Banners in summaries may not exceed 300x150 pixels in size.

300 x 150 banners should be smaller than or equal to this. If you don't have a photo-editing program that makes it easy to tell how big your banner is, download that box and use it as a size gauge wherever you make your banners.

The reason we have this rule is so that large images on the page won't slow down loading speed.

I'm not going to be super-nitpicky about size, but please don't make your banners that much bigger than that little box.

I'm bringing this up because the banners are getting insanely large here, guys! If you've got a banner larger than 300 x 150, then be aware that I am going through the archives and removing banners that don't comply with size regulations, and so if you find your banner has been removed, then it is too big. If you'd like to do me a favor and remove your banner yourself if it is oversize, please do!

I know this means that a lot of you will have to get new banners, but we do have a request section on our forum, there are so many places and people that will make banners regulation size, if you just include that in your request.

Thanks in advance for your understanding!

~ Iris (who is semi-back from computer probation :D)

 EDIT (5/19/2009)

On another side note, but still about the rules...

If you do not submit one chapter at a time, all of the chapters (whether you submit two or twenty!) will be deleted from the queue and you will recieve a rejection letter asking you to re-submit them one at a time. I don't have the time and I know that none of the other mods do either to go through 70 submissions when 20 are of the same story and the first chapter can't be accepted because it violates the rules so we have to deal with what to do with the subsequent chapters. Please, just follow the rules.

-Jenn

by Savannah_Cullen on 09 Apr 2009 10:13 PM

Sorry for the delay in validations lately! All the mods are a tad busy these days, so chapters may take a little longer to make it through. Just be patient, please. Your chapter will be validated soon enough, I promise!

-- Savannah

Adding to that, it would be SO SO SO much easier for us to get through the submissions quickly if some of you guys took the time to follow the submission rules when submitting. Please? For the sake of our sanity? =P

-j3nn

Please only submit -one- chapter at a time. More than one story is fine, but only -ONE- chapter.

It makes our lives so much easier when you even just follow that rule. It's really the one I find I have to reject for most often. On a side note, a big thanks to everyone who is following the rules and making validation move smoothly.

~ Iris

We'd also REALLY appreciate it if you guys submitted your stories in only one catagory. Please choose the one that fits best. Again, thanks so much to eveyone who is listening and following the rules. It helps us validate your stories quicker :)

- Jacquelyn

------------------

Hello guys! For those of you that are new to Twilight Archives, I'm Jacquelyn. :)

At the enormous amount of stories and great ideas that are rolling around on this site, I'd like to start another one-shot challenge. The theme is Jane. Take a peek into her life, whether it's in the past or present, and unleash your writing skills! Was she always the harsh, petite girl that was always ready to please Aro? Or is she somehow plotting her beloved master's demise? Was Jane the cause of the Volturi's rise? Or will she make them fall? Get creative with this one, guys!

The Rules:

1) Normal submission rules (must exceed 500 words, proper line format, spelling, grammar, ect.).

2) It must be in one point of view, no switching. Any one character counts as that, but only if the focus remains on Jane and the character's view point makes sense in the story.

3) Please stick to canon! :)

4) Your story must be validated before it is emailed to the mod.

5) Please include a short summary in the appropriate slot of your story along with the title of 'Jane One-Shot Challenge'.

Please submit all stories to these email addresses after they've been validated: dragontodragons@yahoo.com,the.iris.messenger@gmail.com, gabriella_523@hotmail.com, j3nny_b4by@yahoo.com, bubble_069321@yahoo.com,kaiwynn@gmail.com. Please make sure the subject is stated as 'Jane One-Shot Challenge' and be sure to include your pen name! We'd love to acknowledge all of your stories, but can't give credit to them if we don't know the author!

The deadline for all one-shots is FEBRUARY 15th, SUNDAY. We will be announcing the winners sometime shortly after.

Also, winners will consist of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two honorable mentions. On a side note, however, everyone is welcome to submit a banner for the winners (once they are chosen).

Some Other Points (I thought I'd clear up):

- Poetry is accepted only if it is at least 500 words and the focus remains on Jane.

- All one-shots must be limited to a chapter.

- Writing perspective is not limited to third person (narrative).

- Please only submit one one-shot for the challenge. If you submit more than one, all but the original will be ignored.

- If there are any problems, with validation especially, please comment.

Have fun, guys!

~ Jacquelyn (black2red)

Took me long enough, hmm?  :)

No, but the decision was very very difficult.  It took me a long time to narrow it down to 6 people, but since that was too many, I had to finally choose 3.

And those would be:

Iris Messenger

Savannah_Cullen

Congratulations! and check your email, dears.

Thanks to everyone for applying!  I'm amazed with how many people love this site enough to volunteer for it.  It makes me feel very warm and fuzzy :)

Okay!  Sorry if you were late, but mod applications are officially CLOSED.  It was, what, five days? -- and I have received 25 applications.

25!

So give me a bit to look over these, talk with Gabby and Jenn, etc.   You'll have new mod(s) soon:)

mods wanted!
by Kaiwynn on 22 Dec 2008 09:45 PM

I haven't exactly talked to Jenn or Gabby about this yet, haha, but this announcement needs to be made.

Mods wanted!

If you'd like to be a validator of Twilight Archives, send your answer to these questions to kaiwynn @ twilightarchives . com:

How often can you validate?

Do you write stories yourself?  If so, can I have a link please?

Are you willing to work with other people?

Anything else?

If you're clever, you'll recognize these questions from the last time I asked around for mods.  But that was seven months ago, and I thought I should get a fresh batch of applications instead of asking after people who have probably left the fandom by now.  If you applied before, you should definitely apply again!

Thanks, everyone!
