Contest!
by on 22 Jun 2009 10:45 AM

Heyloo twilighters! It's time to shake things up a bit on Twilight Archives with... (you guessed it) a contest!

Theme

"It was a dark and stormy night..."

This quote was penned by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, a Victorian novelist with a certain attention to dramatic flair. You must include this quote somewhere in your fanfic. The contest is not limited to any charater or time frame, just keep in mind that it must be Twilight-related. If you plan on entering a piece of art, you must explain how the quote is incorporated into it... So get creative with this, guys =) Was it dark and stormy when Alice was changed? Did Esme make that fatal jump over the edge during a storm? Is Aro planning to unleash world chaos under the cover of dark storm clouds?

Can you capture Bella as she is about to jump over the edge of the LaPush cliff in a painting? Are you going to explore the chambers of the Volturi Castle through a drawing? What about those comic strips?

Deadline

ALL entries must be submitted by Saturday, August 1! Please make sure you send an email to all of the mods containing the link to your submission only after they've been validated. Include your pen name in your email! We'd love to give credit to you wonderful authors and artists, but can only do so if we have a name :)

Email Addresses: dragontodragons@yahoo.com, the.iris.messenger@gmail.com, gabriellanoelle@gmail.com, bubble_069321@yahoo.com, j3nny_b4by@yahoo.com, and kaiwynn@gmail.com

Winners

There will be first, second, and third places (as well as two honorable mentions) given out for the writing category and the art category. Banner makers are welcomed here, as the winners will need banners for their entries! More below.

 More on Banners

Heyloo y'all, Iris here!

So the winners of this challenge will need a banner to put in their summary saying they won, right? So we're calling YOU to submit a banner!

Size: 350 x 100 pixels; about this big. Your banner should be able to fit inside that rectangle I linked to. E-mail if you need any more clarification about the size. (the.iris.messenger@gmail.com). Don't be shy!

Text: It Was a Dark and Stormy Night. TA Challenge Winner.

Anything larger than 350 x 100 pixels will be disqualified. The deadline for all banner entries is Saturday, August 1. Please e-mail the banners to me (the.iris.messenger@gmail.com) with the banner attached in .jpg or .png format and your penname on the archives.

The winners will be chosen by a vote! I'll start a forum topic in the poll section and link to it from here, and you all will vote on which banner YOU think should be given to all the winners!

Have fun!

~ Iris Messenger

Thank you for the far away deadline and I can't wait to get started! I know what to do...but I just have to make it long enough....hmmm......

- Bella_Cullen_wanna_be on 23 Jun 2009 09:02 PM

alright dearies-it's official. You've managed to come up with the best challege in TA history.

But, like always, i managed to have a couple questions :)

When you said that there would be a first, second, and third winner plus two honerable mentions do you mean for art/writing/banner put together (so 5 winners in all) or 5 winners per category (15 winners in all)?

And are we allowed to submit only one thing (1 in total) or one per category (3 in all)? Just curious, is all.

sorry, i was just a bit confused with how you worded it.

Oh! i almost forgot-i love the qoute we have to use (of course, if you knew me you'd know im going for the writing part of the challenge all the way). i grew up with that qoute as a starter sentance in every scary bedtime story there was, so i am very familier with it ;)

Wonderful, Ladies-really splended idea

- awsomealice94 on 23 Jun 2009 10:28 PM

=) Here are the answers:

1) There will be one winner for the banner segment, however there will be five picks for each the art part and writing part, equaling 11 winners in all.

2) There is allowed a total of three entries per member :)

- black2red on 24 Jun 2009 11:37 AM
ah, okay. i understand now :) thank you for clearing that up
- awsomealice94 on 24 Jun 2009 11:50 AM
No problem
- black2red on 24 Jun 2009 11:52 AM

OOOO!!! i cant wait to start writing!!!!!! i have been waiting for a contest for a while now

one ques. though ummm.... when we submit our story do we have to have our banner with it or can we just add it if we win?

thanks a bunch

~Hannah

- Twihardteen on 24 Jun 2009 12:01 PM
You can submit your story as is :) No need for a banner, it's an optional contest. The winners of the contest will be able to post the chosen banner in their entry summary when it's over. Hope that helps!
- black2red on 24 Jun 2009 06:55 PM
you said we can enter up to 3 entries...can we try entering multiple stories, or can it only be one story? thanks. =]
- exgymnastbritt on 12 Jul 2009 02:57 PM
Only one entry per catagory, but you can enter the three catagories :)
- black2red on 12 Jul 2009 09:03 PM
okay thank you =]
- exgymnastbritt on 13 Jul 2009 02:52 AM
Just wondering -- how many people have entered so far?
- Tundra on 13 Jul 2009 09:48 AM
Can a story entered in the contest have multiple chapters? It's just that I've been planning this cool story, and I'm worried that I may have to split it into many chapters. I can also make it a one-shot, but it may get a bit wordy. Thank you for your time!
- Nymphadora_Cullen on 13 Jul 2009 03:04 PM
okay, i know i'm going to sound impatient. but here goes. can you guys try to validate all the story entries soon? i want to be able to send mine in before i forget all about it. haha. =]
- exgymnastbritt on 13 Jul 2009 06:06 PM

Tundra, three people have entered the writing contest so far. We have yet to receive an entry for the art contest O_o

Only one-shots are allowed for the contest, Nymphadora. Don't be afraid to contact us if you have any trouble working your plot out :)

x) And SORRY exgymnastbritt!! We've all been extremely backed-up lately, you guys are going to have to wait for a bit longer.. I'll see what I can do now, though.

- black2red on 13 Jul 2009 06:55 PM
thank youuu =]
- exgymnastbritt on 13 Jul 2009 09:30 PM
Um, quick question, if we have automatic validation, do we still submit it when we're done after sending it to you guys? I think I've asked this before but...I can't remember. *blush*
